1: The Sit Ski
What is it? The sit ski is used for X-country skiing and snowshoe activities.
Who is it for? The sit ski is designed for people who have paraplegia at a low injury level with VERY high endurance and VERY strong upper body strength. Works best for individuals with low spinal cord injuries and lower limb limitations, particularly those who have abdominal muscle use will have better success.
Details: Straps can be used around chest for more support. Small ski poles can be provided for pushing and balance while skiing.
2: The Walker Ski
What is it? The walker ski is used for X-country skiing and snowshoe activities.
Who is it for? The walker ski is designed for those who need more stability in balance while using skis.
Details: Persons using the walker ski are “four track skiers”, they have two skis on and a walker mounted to two other pair of skis with brackets. It is not recommended for those with strong balance or high functioning abilities for it could take away from the challenge of X-country skiing or snowshoeing.
