"SPLORE has shown me that a person like myself with multiple handicaps can still participate in most of the activities on the river trips.
It has helped me to overcome some of my fears and given me confidence to do more with my life."

Fisher Towers
Whether you paddle, swim, or float down this section of the Colorado River, you will enjoy incredible sights, sounds and sensations. Enjoy sweeping views of fiery canyon walls, snow-capped mountains, and the unique sandstone spires of the Fisher Towers. Four moderate rapids, Professor, Ida, Cloudburst, and White's, will provide plenty of whitewater excitement.

Ruby & Horsethief Canyon
Come and enjoy the unique wild-life, geology and history that are distinctive to this stretch of the Colorado River. This class II stretch begins near the town of Loma, Colorado, just outside of the Utah border. Ruby and Horsethief Canyon are home to numerous birds of prey including Golden and Bald Eagles, Red Tail Hawks and Peregrine Falcons.
At the Black Rocks Campsite, you will see the geological phenomenon known as a schist, a highly polished and extremely uncommon black rock dating back 1.25 billion years. This leisurely stretch can be run either on a raft or canoe. 3-4 day trips start at the Ruby & Horsethief Canyon put-in and end at Westwater Canyon.

Westwater Canyon
Hang on for the ride of your life as you run one of the most exciting stretches of white-water on the Colorado River! During the trip you'll have plenty of time to view the canyon's wildlife and enjoy the scenery. The trip starts with a swift float past the historic "Miner's Cabin."
The excitement builds as you approach the Little Delores rapids, where the river narrows and is surrounded by towering black gneiss and granite cliffs. The last six miles include ten Class III-IV rapids with names like Big Hummer, Funnel Falls, Skull and Sock-It-To-Me. This is a trip where you're guaranteed to experience great white-water action!

Specialty/National Park Trips
Enjoy a five-day rafting adventure through one of Utah's spectacular National Parks. Trip options include Cataract Canyon through Canyonlands National Park on the Colorado River, and either the Gates of Lodore on the Green River or through Dinosaur National Monument on the Yampa River. These trips are available once a year, upon request, through a Special Populations Permit issued by the National Park Service.
"The adaptive seating and volunteer support provided by SPLORE allows people with mild to severe disabilities to experience float trips and rides on the rapids. By challenging the physical element of the outdoors, people with MS feel renewed to continue their fight against this devastating illness."
