Volunteer Training

Volunteer orientations are a great way to gain further knowledge and information regarding SPLORE's history and philosophy, program goals and objectives, policy and procedure, volunteer responsibilities, and specific program information including types of activities provided, populations served and lesson/trip dates. This is a wonderful opportunity to meet the SPLORE staff and volunteers!

Training is required for all new program volunteers. SPLORE asks outdoor program volunteers possess the following characteristics: A love of the outdoor recreation, and a willingness to share outdoor recreation experiences with people of all abilities. All training includes an orientation meeting and a weekend of skill building.

As of January 2005, all new volunteers planning to work with SPLORE will need to provide a background check.

Training for programs is scheduled as follows:

Rafting training - May 20-21.
Rock Climbing and Canoeing training - May 15-17.

CPR and First Aid Training is also available!
